The session will focus on overcoming communication barriers faces by people with stroke.

Speaker announcement – Professor Fiona Jones: The added value of self-management

Join Professor Fiona Jones, one of three speakers at our first plenary on 11 March.

Fiona will share new ways of thinking about and building the evidence base on self-management using examples from research and clinical practice. The session will inspire participants to consider the potential of self-management support to deliver outcomes that matter most to people living with stroke.

The session will include a mix of presentations from eminent speakers and contributions from stroke survivors from across Europe.

Speakers for the next European Life After Stroke series event confirmed

Professor Fiona Jones (England), Dr Lisa Kidd (Scotland) along with Professor Hanne Palleson and Mette Brandi (Denmark) will be sharing their research and insights on self-management. They will be joined by stroke survivor Scott Ballard-Ridley at our morning plenary session at our Life After Stroke event on 11 March 2022, 10.00 – 11.30 CET.

Understand the building blocks for how practitioners can develop good relationships with people with stroke.

Professor Jean-Marie Annoni (Switzerland) will be joined by stroke survivors for second plenary (15.00-16.30 CET), which focuses on overcoming communication barriers with stroke. They will share experiences and show that even without aphasia, communication failures are common and can result in confusion and distress.

We will discuss real life experiences of how families, friends and networks can adapt communication after stroke.
