Speakers for the first plenary session are confirmed for the European Life After Stroke Forum on 10 March, Barcelona, Spain.

The presentations for this session are:

A life saved is a life worth living report launch, Professor Charles Wolfe, King’s College London, England.

Professor Wolfe will cover:

  • The launch of a new SAFE research report on the unmet needs of stroke survivors and carers
  • A review of key findings
  • Recommendations for future action and research.

Europe: how are you responding to life after stroke? Professor Peter Kelly, European Stroke Organisation President, Ireland.

Professor Kelly will cover:

  • A response to the report, A life saved is a life worth living
  • How we make life after stroke a political priority
  • How we can use the Stroke Action Plan for Europe

Life after stroke services (ABRIC) in Catalonia, Mercè Ayesta, Fundació Ictus and Gloria Bou, stroke survivor, Barcelona, Spain.

This session will cover:

  • An overview of the life after stroke (ABRIC) project in Catalonia
  • Outcomes after the first year
  • A stroke survivor experience of using the service

Speakers for the plenary session on secondary prevention after stroke are confirmed for the European Life After Stroke Forum on 10 March, Barcelona, Spain.

This session will address some of the challenges and solutions around secondary prevention after stroke. It will present up to date knowledge and evidence around medicines, nutrition and gadgets.

Key speakers include:

  • Professor Ronan Collins, Tallaght University Hospital and Peamount Hospitals Dublin, Ireland – Medical secondary prevention post stroke
  • Dr Jo Kwan, Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College London, England – Nutrition post stroke
  • Dr Liam Healy, Cork University Hospital, Ireland – Evidence behind wearable technology post stroke

Abstract submission deadline extended for the European Life After Stroke Forum

Interested in presenting a 10-minute oral presentation or a poster presentation at the European Life After Stroke Forum on 10 March in Barcelona?

The deadline for submitting abstracts for the Forum has been extended to 24.00 CET Monday 16 January.

We are looking for applications in two areas:

  • Scientific applications – for completed or ongoing trials and studies in the broad area of life after stroke
  • Grab and Steal – to share experiences of service developments in life after stroke where these original ideas and innovative practices could be used by others.
